Getting On Top of Google … Here’s How!

When meeting with a client, usually the first question I get is how can I get on top of Google.  Great question, because unlike the famous movie line from Field of Dreams, "If you build it, they will come" websites don't automatically drive traffic just because it is built.  We have to point people to your site and being in a prominent place on Google is essential.  So that leads us back to where we began, how do you get on top of Google?

Three Short Answers

Answer #1 - The Free Way (and Loooong Way)
Wait.  Google systematically scours the internet for new websites and updates to websites.  Your site will eventually get noticed.  If your site is a more niche site that visitors will know about because they visit your brick and mortar store or because of some other type of marketing, then it is okay just to wait.

Answer #2 - The Not Free and Not Long Way
Search Engine Optimization is an excellent way to program your website to be noticed by Google.  Web developers usually charge a fee for this type of service.  We research your site for relevant keywords and check the popularity of those keywords, then we manipulate the coding of your site in a way that is legal that gets your site noticed by the popular search engines.  Pierce Multimedia charges $295 for this type of service.  We will also submit your website to over 200 search engines and directories.

Answer #3 - The Best Way
Google sells the best positions on the search page.  Usually when you search for a popular keyword, you will see three listings at the top and several on the right hand side.  These listings are the Sponsored Results meaning they pay Google everytime someone clicks on them.   They don't necessarily pay to be listed there, but if someone clicks on it, then they will pay Google anywhere from $0.05 to $20 and up per click.  This is where Google gets the majority of its income.  Pierce Multimedia can help in this process.  We can manage your budget, create the text ads, oversee the campaigns and report to you on how well your online marketing efforts are doing.  We recommend you start with at least $500 minimum per month.  Google Advertising budgets can be whatever you want them to be, but in order to see maximum result, you can plan on at least $500 minimum per month.  We will be happy to talk to you about your marketing needs.

So Now You Know, What's Next?
It's up to you, what are your goals for your website?  Do you want to see big impacts early in the life of your online marketing, then advertising is a great way to do that.  If you want to get your feet wet and see how this whole internet thing works, then definitely start with some quality Search Engine Optimization.
